Arthur Public Library: a sustainable library for the community

Having the experience of visiting Arthur Public Library is one of the first experience of visiting an American Public Library  that I had during my days as a 2017 Mortenson Associate.

Even though it is a small library, the Arthur Library had catered to the needs of the Amish community by providing them reading materials, news about what is happening in the outside world and also meet their needs on the use of computers and the Internet.

It is inspiring to see and learn that the Library staff specifically tries to see that they meet with the demands of every Amish user. With very few staff in hand, it was encouraging to see that the Librarian and the supporting staff were working enthusiastically to meet the requirement of the Library visitor, and the guidance they provided to the Amish community seems to be a valuable one.

The role played by the Arthur Public Library is indeed an important role in sustainable development of the Amish community in all respect because the services and guidance provided through the library service is an important and sustainable activity.
